Google has been using a feature called App Indexing that will help you to open installed apps when they’ve got content related to your web search. Today Google announced that it’s building upon that feature to make it even better for users and developers.
Google says that starting this week, web searches with results that are also contained in relevant Android apps will now include links to download those apps if you don’t have them installed. To get their apps included in App Indexing, developers just need to implement the feature by adding deep links to their app code.
As I said before, adding links to apps that users don’t already have installed is big for both users and developers. It helps users to find apps that they may not have normally stumbled upon, and it helps developers to get their apps in front of more people with minimal effort. Sounds like a win-win to me.
