Sony said last year that it planned to push Android 5.0 to all of its premium Z series devices. So far we’ve seen some Z3 and Z2 products get the Lollipop update, but Sony wants you to know that it hasn’t forgotten about older Z series hardware.
Sony recently took to its official Xperia page on Google+ to post an image of an original Xperia Z running Android 5.0, along with the words “Coming soon…” Sony hasn’t said when it’ll begin updating the Xperia Z to Lollipop.
Sony’s Android 5.0 updates have included the typical Lollipop goodies, like lock screen notifications, a new look that’s a combination of Material Design and Sony’s UI, and some refreshed software navigation buttons. The Sony Xperia Z isn’t exactly a fresh smartphone, having made its debut in January 2013, so it’s good to see Sony is still committed to getting Lollipop to the aging member of the Z series.
