After getting our first official look at the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge earlier this week, we’re now getting a peek at what you’ll see before you lay eyes on the phones themselves: their packaging.
Samsung has uploaded a video all about the design of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge to its YouTube channel. The clip gives us a look at the box for both units, which is considerably more minimal and clean than the packaging used for the Galaxy S5.
Following the unboxing of the phones, the video shows off several of its features. For example, the Galaxy S6 edge has a feature called People Edge that’ll let you view and manage incoming messages and also show your favorite contacts, each of which will be color-coded and include quick links for messaging and calling. Samsung also touts the GS6’s aluminum 6013 body, which it points out “will not bend” (a little shot at Apple and the iPhone 6), and we also get a look at the GS6 Clear View Cover that can show alerts and phone calls. It can also as double as a mirror.
The new Galaxy S6 packaging looks to go along with Samsung’s design philosophy for the phone itself, giving off a clean and premium first impression. Meanwhile, the edge displays of the GS6 edge look better than the one found on the Galaxy Note Edge, and so far it looks like Samsung is working to make the GS6 edge a bit more useful too. Both the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge are slated to begin launching on April 10, so it won’t be long before we get to see this packaging and these features for ourselves.
