Today was HTC’s big day in New York City, and as expected, the Taiwanese firm took the wraps off of two new products that have a heavy focus on their cameras.

First up is the new smartphone, the HTC Desire Eye. The Desire Eye boasts a pair of 13-megapixel smartphones, one on its face and one on its rear, that both offer a two-tone LED flash. They two shooters aren’t totally identical, though, as the rear camera has an f/2.0 28mm lens, while the front-facing cam’s got an f/2.2 22mm lens.

The HTC Desire Eye also offers a 5.2-inch 1920x1080 display, which is a hair larger than HTC’s One (M8) flagship, and a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor. Rounding out the Desire Eye’s spec list is 2GB of RAM, 16GB of built-in storage, a trio of microphones, a waterproof body and a 2400mAh battery.

HTC says that AT&T is its “exclusive launch partner,” but there’s no word on how much the Desire Eye will cost when you buy it from the big blue operator. It’s also unclear when the Desire Eye might launch on other carriers or when AT&T’s “exclusive launch partner” period will come to an end.

Overall the HTC Desire Eye looks like a nice Android smartphone. While it doesn’t have the metal body of its One (M8) sibling, it does offer 13-megapixel front and rear cameras that some folks might like better than the One (M8)’s UltraPixel rear and 5-megapixel front cameras. And hey, there are likely people that’ll prefer the Desire Eye’s design and larger screen, too.
