Tomorrow’s the day that the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are going up for pre-order, with the devices expected to hit doorsteps a week later. Many iPhone owners are likely to upgrade to the new models, which feature larger displays than any previous iPhone models, and AT&T and Verizon have said that they want to help those folks get the latest Apple hardware.
AT&T says that starting tomorrow, it’ll give you $200 minimum trade-in credit for an iPhone 4, iPhone 4s, iPhone 5 and iPhone 5c. That minimum value jumps up to $300 for the iPhone 5s. AT&T also shared its pricing for the new iPhone 6 and 6 Plus:
Verizon’s trade-in offer is similar. The big red carrier will give you a $200 Verizon Wireless gift card for your iPhone 4, iPhone 4s, iPhone 5 or iPhone 5c, while an iPhone 5s will net you a $300 gift card. Verizon’s deadline for sending in your old phone is November 15. Ol’ Red also notes that this trade-in promo will be available in its stores from September 12 through September 30.
Typically I caution that trading in your device to a retailer or carrier won’t net you as much in return as you’d get through Craigslist or eBay, but that’s not necessarily the case here. Owners of an iPhone 4 or 4s might not be able to get quite as much by selling themselves than they would through AT&T and Verizon, so if you’ve got an aging iPhone, these trade-in offers may be worth your consideration.
Are any of you planning to pre-order an iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus tomorrow?
