Looks like a new Moto X, new Moto G and the Moto 360 aren’t the only new pieces of hardware that Motorola’s got in the works.

An FCC listing has revealed a new version of the Motorola Skip, an NFC accessory that would allow you to skip the PIN lock on a Moto X when the two are near. Rather than a small clip, this new Skip is a triangular key fob that allows you to attach it to keys, a backpack or something similar.

According to the user manual, the new Motorola Skip works over Bluetooth with any phone running Android 4.3 or higher. You can use an official Moto app to pair Skip with your device. Meanwhile, a button on the back of the Skip allows you to turn it on or off, check its status and locate your phone. The Moto app also lets you locate your Skip by forcing it to emit a beep.

This new Motorola Skip looks like a nice improvement over the original model. The fact that it’s a key fob that can be attached to a keyring or something similar ought to greatly improve the number of ways that you can carry it with you when compared to the clip-style of the original Skip.

There’s no word yet on when this new Motorola Skip might debut, but Motorola does have an event scheduled for Sept. 4 at which it’s likely to unveil some new phones. Sounds like as good a place as any to announce a new accessory focused on finding and unlocking your phone.
