The Samsung leaks have been flowing freely in the weeks leading up to the company’s Unpacked 2014 Episode 2 event, and the stream of information shows no signs of letting up.
The folks at SamMobile claim to have new information regarding the Galaxy Note 4 and Samsung’s new wearables. First up, the Note 4.
The Galaxy Note 4 is expected to sport a fingerprint scanner just like the Galaxy S5’s, complete with the same Screen Lock, Private Mode and PayPal features.
Samsung will reportedly load a couple of new goodies onto the Note 4 as well. This includes Fingerprint Shortcuts, which allows the user to specify a certain fingerprint that will let them jump directly from the lock screen to an app or function.
The second new feature coming with the Note 4 is Web Sign-in. This will let users log into a website once using their login and password, then sign into it in the future by using their fingerprint.
Moving on to your wrist, Samsung is said to be prepping a circular Gear smartwatch to take on the Moto 360 and LG G Watch R. However, all other details on the device are still up in the air, including whether it’ll run Android Wear or Tizen.
Finally, Samsung is reportedly prepping a SIM-enabled Gear smartwatch. This unit may debut alongside the Galaxy Note 4 next month and is expected to not require a pairing with a smartphone to carry out cellular functions.
Overall there’s not too much that’s surprising in today’s report. The Web Sign-in using a fingerprint feature makes sense as a time-saver, and with all of the hype that Motorola’s gotten for the Moto 360 in recent months, it makes sense that Samsung would want to try its own hand at a round wristwatch.
