The BlackBerry Passport has been the focus of much of the BlackBerry news that’s surfaced lately, but that’s not the only keyboard-clad handset that the company is cooking up.
The folks at N4BB have shared images of what’s said to be the BlackBerry P’9983 “Khan,” the latest device that BlackBerry has made in collaboration with Porsche Design. The P’9983 looks like a luxury version of the BlackBerry Q10, sort of like how the P’9982 was a luxury version of the Z10.
In terms of specs, we’re told to expect a 3.5-inch touchscreen, 1.7GHz dual-core processor, 3GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. The phone has a physical keyboard that’s a bit reminiscent of the one found on the Passport. Finally, it’s said that the phone will be sold in matte black and come preloaded with BlackBerry 10.3.
It’s not known when the P’9983 might launch or how much it’ll cost when it does, but it seems likely that the luxury phone will cost more than $1,000. And while it might seem strange to us normies that BlackBerry is crafting a new luxury phone when it’s not exactly setting the rest of the smartphone world on fire, I’m sure that the market for these Porsche Design phones will be pleased to have a QWERTY BlackBerry 10.3 handset at their disposal.
