It’s widely expected that the Sony Xperia Z3 will make its official debut at IFA next month, around 1 year after the Xperia Z1’s debut and 6 months after the Xperia Z2’s outing. As is usually the case with upcoming high-profile smartphones, though, the Z3 appears to have been revealed before its official announcement.
TENAA, which is kind of like the Chinese version of the FCC, has posted several images of the Sony Xperia Z3 in its database. There are two variants pictured — an L55t model with TD-SCDMA and LTE and an L55u unit with WCDMA and LTE — but outside of those connectivity options, these two Z3’s sport similar specs:
Should these specs hold true, it looks like Sony has taken most of the specs from the Xperia Z2 and stuffed ‘em into the Xperia Z3. The one change that’s been spotted so far is a processor upgrade, which could be a significant change from the Z2 to the Z3. However, I’m betting that there are going to be a few frustrated Z2 owners when their device loses its flagship status less than a year after its launch.
