Google is seemingly always expanding its Search app’s bag of tricks, whether it does so by adding new voice commands or by beefing up Google Now. Today Google Search became even smarter by learning some additional languages.
The Google Search app on Android will now automatically understand queries in multiple languages. The app has long been able to take requests using languages in other languages, but in order to access that feature, you would need to jump into your device’s settings switch languages. That’s no longer necessary, as Google Search will now automatically understand which language you’re using.
Google says that the Search app can support up to five languages at once. However, you can only use one language per sentence. El Goog plans to add more languages and features in the future.
Even though Google Search has supported multiple languages in the past, the fact that you no longer need to manually change languages to get at that feature is still big news. In order to select your five supported languages, you need to have Google Search v3.6, going into the Google Settings app > Search & Now > Voice > Languages.
