In the days before the Samsung Galaxy S5 was officially announced, a leak claimed to shed light on the details of its camera, including its 16-megapixel rear shooter. Now the same thing is happening with the Samsung Galaxy Note 4.
The folks at SamMobile claim to have received information regarding the Galaxy Note 4’s camera capabilities, saying that it’ll pack a 16-megapixel Sony IMX240 sensor on its backside. The camera will reportedly include optical image stabilization and support for recording UltraHD (3840x2160) video.
Samsung is also said to be prepping a feature called Side Touch. This would enable users to touch the bottom right side of the Note 4, right where a physical camera button would normally be located, and use a sensor to snap a photo. Side Touch is expected to be incompatible with portrait mode, Easy Mode and video capture.
When it comes to software, Samsung purportedly has a few new features up its sleeve, which shouldn’t really come as a surprise to anyone. We’re told to expect a new gesture that would allow users to jump straight into the Note 4’s camera while the screen is off by placing two fingers on the screen and then spreading them apart. Other software features said to be coming with the Note 4 include Wide Selfie, Selfie, Selfie Alarm, Create a GIF File, HDR Live, Selective Focus and Fast Auto-Focus.
The Galaxy Note 4 will be Samsung’s other big flagship device for 2014 — alongside the Galaxy S5 — so it’s no surprise to hear that Sammy may be planning to pack the Note 4 to the gills with camera features. Most of them sound pretty plausible; the selfie modes are there because selfies are big in mobile right now, and the other features are being brought over from the Galaxy S5.
It’s expected that Samsung will introduce the Galaxy Note 4 at its Unpacked 2014 Episode 2 event on Sept. 3. How many of you are excited for the next device in the Note smartphone family?
