Remember when HTC teased that it planned to make its Zoe app available to all Android users this week? Well just two days later, that’s exactly what’s happened.
Zoe (Beta) is now available for download from the Play Store. The app, launched by the new HTC Creative Labs division of HTC, allows users to “create, share and remix professional-quality highlight videos.” After installing Zoe (Beta) users can take their photos and videos and create a brief highlight clip, complete with a theme and custom soundtrack.
Once a Zoe is complete, it can be uploaded to the community for others to view, heart, comment on and even remix. Zoe clips can also be uploaded to Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and more.
The Zoe (Beta) is compatible with any HTC Sense 6 device as well as the LG G2, G2 Pro, Nexus 5, Samsung Galaxy S 4, Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 3. HTC expects the compatibility of the Zoe app to expand to more Android 4.4 smartphones once the beta period comes to an end in the fall.
HTC has already released several of its unique apps to the Play Store, but so far those apps have only been available to select HTC devices. That’s changing with the Zoe (Beta) app. This is an interesting strategy from HTC because while it’s awesome to see the company making its own apps available to non-HTC hardware, the move also means that HTC’s own devices have one less unique goodie to offer to consumers. We’ll have to watch how this strategy plays out in the coming months as HTC Creative Labs offers more apps.
You can download Zoe (Beta) from the Play Store right here. Once you do, be sure to share your impressions with us!
