HTC has shown that it’s not afraid to offer multiple versions of its flagship smartphones. We saw the One (M7) offered in several different hues as well as a limited edition gold-plated One (M7) and a gold-plated One (M8) that was given to T-Mobile CEO John Legere. Today HTC added another limited edition smartphone to its list with the PHUNK Limited Edition HTC One (M8).
HTC announced this morning that it’s teamed up with PHUNK Studio, an art and design group from Singapore, to create a special One (M8). The unit features some intricate laser-etched artwork on its backside, but outside of that design, the device is similar to the plain ol’ HTC One (M8) that us regular folk have access to.
The PHUNK Limited Edition HTC One (M8) will be available in silver and gold models, and HTC says that only 64 total units will be offered. The devices are meant to serve as a preview of PHUNK’s upcoming exhibition. HTC hasn’t said exactly how people will be able to get their mitts on one of those 64 units, but I’m betting that like the aforementioned gold-plated One models, you won’t be able to simply buy one of the PHUNK phones.
