Motorola has been pretty spot-on when it comes to pushing updates to the Moto X, treating its flagship smartphone to new versions of Android well before most other devices got them. That’s why it should come as no surprise that Motorola has confirmed that it intends to update the Moto X to the next major release of Android.
In response to Google+ user Josh B.’s question about whether or not the Moto X will receive an update to Android L, Motorola exec Punit Soni simply said “Yup.” Suni works as VP of Product Management at Motorola.
Motorola has earned itself quite a bit of praise for its swift Android updates for the Moto X, G and E, and so I’m not at all surprised that it plans to upgrade the Moto X to Android L. Plus, not only is the Moto X not that old of a smartphone, but it’s still Motorola’s flagship smartphone for now. So rejoice, Moto X-ers, because now you know for sure that you’ll be able to enjoy Android L without having to move to the Moto X+1 or whatever the X’s successor is called.
While we wait for the Moto X's Android L update to begin, you can prepare for the upgrade by checking out some of the top features of Android L in our video below!
