When Foursquare first announced its plans to split its check-in app into two separate apps, Swarm and Foursquare, it said that the check-in-focused Swarm would hit Android and iOS in the following weeks and that a Windows Phone version would arrive “soon after.” Fast-forward to late July and the Windows Phone app is nowhere to be found. Hot on the heels of its tease of the updated Foursquare app, though, Foursquare has previewed the Windows Phone version of Swarm as well.
The three screenshots show that the Windows Phone-flavored Swarm app will be fairly similar to its Android and iOS counterparts. It’ll include all of the same features, including stickers and “Nearby plans,” and it’ll also have its navigation buttons up at the top of the display.
Foursquare still isn’t ready to reveal exactly when Swarm will arrive on Windows Phone, but it does say that it’s currently “putting the finishing touches” on the app and that it should arrive sometime “in the next few weeks.” Until then, Windows Phone users can continue to check in using their Foursquare app and take solace in the fact that they’re still getting their own version of Swarm before some other mobile platforms.
