Last week, HTC said that the unlocked version of the One (M8) would begin receiving its update to Android 4.4.3 some time “late” this week. I’d say the end of Thursday is pretty late in the week, wouldn’t you? Apparently HTC would as well, because it’s now rolling out the unlocked One (M8)’s Android 4.4.3 bump.
HTC has confirmed that the unlocked One (M8)’s update to Android 4.4.3 is now rolling out. A screenshot provided by HTC Product Manager Leigh Momii shows that the update bumps the unlocked One (M8) to software version 2.22.1540.3 and that it weighs in at a whopping 592.17MB. Yeah, you’ll want to hop onto Wi-Fi before downloading this one.
As for what’s included in the update, HTC says that it’s got the Android 4.4.4 security fixes in addition to the bump to Android 4.4.3. Those are the only changes that’ve been confirmed at this time.
If you’re rocking an unlocked One (M8) that you bought from HTC, you can check for the update manually by heading into Settings > About > Software updates. Sure, it may not be the absolute latest version of Android, but this update does upgrade your Android version and includes the fixes found in 4.4.4, so it sounds like a pretty spiffy update to me.
Be sure to shout out in the comments below once the update hits your One (M8)!
