Remember that rumor from March that claimed that the Verizon Smart Rewards program would shortly be going nationwide? Well, that rumor may have been a bit off in its timing, but the claim that the Smart Rewards effort would be made available to all appears to have been spot on.
Verizon just announced that its Smart Rewards program will go live for all of its customers on July 24. Verizon Smart Rewards offers VZW subscribers reward points for performing different actions that can be cashed in for discounts and rewards.
The program will be available to all postpaid customers, and anyone that signs up for Smart Rewards will receive a minimum of 10,000 points right off the bat. More points can be earned by doing things like signing in to the My Verizon online account management site, paying your monthly bill and enrolling in paperless billing.
What can you do with those points, you ask? They can be exchanged for discounts of up to 40 percent on merchandise from “well-known brands,” shopping and dining deals and travel discounts. Verizon also plans to offer daily deals, auctions and sweepstakes that consumers can spend their points on.
To enroll in Verizon Smart Rewards and see how many points you’ve already accrued, thou can hit up the My Verizon home page once July 24 rolls around.
It remains to be seen what kind of goodies the Verizon Smart Rewards program offers, but hey, it’s tough to argue with getting points for doing things like paying your bill and checking your online account, which you’d probably end up doing anyway.
