After spending the weekend watching the iPhone 6’s sapphire front panel do battle with sandpaper and an arrow, it’s time to turn our attention to the device’s backside.

New photos of what’s said to be a “market-ready” version of the iPhone 6’s rear panel have been posted by uSwitch. The part looks farther along in production than the last iPhone 6 back panel that we looked at, as this newer component has holes for its rear camera, flash and microphone.

Also included with this iPhone 6 rear panel is an embedded Apple logo. This piece is different than the iPhones of past, whose Apple logos were simply printed onto the component. 

It’s been suggested that this new embedded Apple logo in the iPhone 6 could light up to indicate when the user receives a new call, text or other alert. However, it seems more likely that the logo will be like the ones found in Apple’s iPads (shown above), which serve as a Wi-Fi antenna. Another possible explanation for this embedded logo is that Apple simply thinks that it looks better.
