If you currently use prepaid service on Verizon or have been considering jumping to it, I’ve got some good news for you today.
Verizon just announced that starting Thursday, July 17, it will allow 4G LTE smartphones to be used with its prepaid Allset Plans. The Allset Plan for smartphones is priced at $45 per month and includes unlimited talk and text as well as 500MB of data. For a limited time, customers can double that allotment to 1GB by enrolling in Auto-Pay. An option to add 500MB for $5 is also available.
Those of you that need even more data should look into Bridge Data add-ons. Verizon offers to Bridge Data add-ons: the cheaper of the two offers 1GB of data for $10 and the second is 3GB for $20. Both have 90-day expirations.
On the hardware side of things, Verizon says that customers can bring their own 4G LTE handset and activate it on an Allset Plan. That includes XLTE-compatible devices. Those folks that’d like to buy a new unit can choose from phones like the Moto X, Galaxy S 4 and Galaxy S5. Verizon also plans on offering the LG Lucid 3 and LG G2 for $149.99 and $299.99, respectively.
One of the long-held complaints about Verizon’s prepaid offerings was about their lack of LTE support. That issue became more noticeable with the addition of prepaid LTE on AT&T and T-Mobile, so it’s good to see Verizon finally come around and offer LTE support on prepaid plans. What makes it even better is that consumers can bring their own device, so if you’re already rocking a Verizon LTE phone and want to switch to prepaid, you can do just that without buying a new phone.
Now that Verizon is officially including LTE with its Allset Plans, are any of you planning on making the switch to Big Red’s prepaid offerings?
