Jonesing for another taste of that Sony Xperia Z3 that we got a peek at yesterday? I’ve got some good news, friend, because you won’t have to wait long to get just that.
Several more images that purportedly show the Sony Xperia Z3 in the wild have made their way online. These photos. give us a closer look at the Xperia Z3’s hardware. While the Z3 appears to have the same basic OmniBalance design that Sony is known for, the Z3 includes a few tweaks that make it different from its predecessors, including sides that are curved rather than flat like on the Z1 and Z2. We can also see that there’s a notification light in the Z3’s upper left corner.
While Sony has apparently saw fit to tweak the Xperia Z3 a bit from previous models, there are some parts that remain unchanged. The Z3 includes large top and bottom bezels like the Z1 and Z2, and it also appears to be sporting the same 20.7-megapixel camera with Exmor RS sensor and G Lens. There also looks to be a dedicated camera button on the Z3’s side.
Finally, the source of these photos has posted an image of the Xperia Z3 resting next to a Samsung Galaxy Note to help us get a better idea of the Z3’s size. While the Z3 isn’t as wide as the Galaxy Note, it appears to be about the same height. The Samsung Galaxy Note measures 146.85 x 82.95 x 9.65 mm.
While the Xperia Z2 is only around 5 months old at this point, Sony has shown in the past that it’s not afraid to rapidly update its flagship line of Z smartphones. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see an Xperia Z3 roll out later this year, possibly at IFA in September. If the phone in these photos is indeed the Z3, it looks like Sony is working to make the device more comfortable to hold than previous Z phones by adding curved sides that ought to be much more palm-friendly than the Z1 and Z2.
What do you think of the Xperia Z3 so far? What features will it need to include for you to consider buying it?
