Many folks are looking forward to the Galaxy Note 4 as Samsung’s flagship smartphone for the second half of 2014, but if a new rumor is to be believed, Sammy’s got a second device up its sleeve that could be more enticing.
A new report from ETNews claims that Samsung is cooking up a new smartphone with a metal body. According to the publication’s sources, this “premium smartphone” is currently known as the “Galaxy Alpha.” The handset is expected to debut in August, and while its exact specs aren’t known, the Galaxy Alpha will allegedly target the iPhone 6 with specs that are better than the Galaxy S5, the current king of Samsung’s smartphone hill.
Rumors of a metal-clad Galaxy smartphone have been swirling for a while now, with recent leaks of a “Galaxy F” showing a device with a Galaxy S5-like design and metal body. The Galaxy F could feature a 5.3-inch 2560x1440 display, Snapdragon 805 processor and 3GB of RAM, all of which would be upgrades over the Galaxy S5. While it’s not confirmed that the Galaxy Alpha and Galaxy F are one and the same, it’s certainly a possibility.
Today’s report also mentions that LG is prepping a “G3 Cat.6” device. This unit appeared in Korea last week, and just as the advertising showed, the G3 Cat.6 is fairly similar to the regular LG G3 save for its LTE-Advanced connectivity. LTE-A connectivity offers maximum download speeds that are much faster than regular ol’ LTE.
