It’s been quite a while since Sony and Verizon have teamed up to bring a new device to market, but the two firms will finally come together once again later this month.
Sony has announced that its Xperia Z2 Tablet is launching on Verizon. Pre-orders for the Big Red-ified Xperia Z2 Tablet will be available for pre-order starting July 10 and will launch in stores on July 17. Pricing will be set at $599.99 without a commitment, though consumers that'd like to save a bit of cash will be able to pick up a Verizon Xperia Z2 Tablet for $499.99 with a two-year contract for a limited time. Anyone that pre-orders the slate will also receive a Sony NC31EM Noise Canceling headset for free while supplies last.
Introduced at MWC in February, the Android 4.4.2-powered Xperia Z2 Tablet boasts a 10.1-inch 1080p display, 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage with a microSD card slot, 4G LTE connectivity and a 6000mAh battery, all crammed into a body that measures 0.25 inches (6.35mm) thick. That body is also IP55 and IP58 rated for resistance to dust and water.
With its beefy spec list that includes a Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB of RAM and a super-thin body that also happens to be water-resistant, the Xperia Z2 Tablet looks like it could be worth a look if you’re in the market for a new Android tablet.
The arrival of the Xperia Z2 Tablet on Verizon is also excited because it ends Verizon’s Sony drought. Here’s to hoping that this launch is just a taste of things to come from these two.
