T-Mobile is holding an Un-carrier 5.0 event on June 18, that much we know. What we don’t know, though, is exactly what John Legere and Co. intend to announce there. That may have changed today, as a new report claims to know what T-Mo has planned for the shindig.
A tip sent in to PhoneArena suggests that T-Mobile may alter their rate plans to include taxes and regulatory fees in the advertised pricing. That means that the price that T-Mo customers see will be the price that they pay.
This all-inclusive pricing is typically a feature touted by prepaid operators. For example, T-Mobile subsidiary MetroPCS uses the line “$40, period.” in its ads to highlight the fact that customers will pay $40 per month without any surprise taxes or fees. While this change may not seem quite a major as past Un-carrier moves, it’d likely be greatly appreciated by T-Mo customers since they would no longer need to worry about taxes or fees being tacked on to their monthly bill.
What do you hope to see from T-Mobile’s Un-carrier 5.0 event? Would you be happy if this rumor of a flat monthly fee became reality?
