After leaking out twice during the first half of May, the Verizon-branded Sony Xperia Z2 seemed to have fallen off of the radar. More news of the device has surfaced today, though, and if this latest report is accurate, it won’t be too much longer before Verizon folk are able to handle the Z2 for themselves.
According to @evleaks, the Verizon Xperia Z2 — codenamed “Sony Sirius Viv” — is taking a while to make it through its certification and testing process. The device is expected to finally hit store shelves during the middle of the third quarter, which would be around mid-August. When it does launch, the Verizon Z2 will reportedly pack LTE-Advanced support.
Sony hasn’t made any official announcements regarding a U.S. launch for the Xperia Z2, so it’s exciting to hear that the company’s newest flagship phone is nearly ready to make its debut here. And while it’s kind of a bummer that we’ve had to wait so long for the Z2 to make its way stateside, the possibility that it’ll arrive with LTE-A support almost makes the extra wait worth it.
