Less than 24 hours after a video surfaced that gave us our first peek at the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active, several more videos have made their way online that shed more light on the unannounced smartphone.
YouTube user TK Tech News has posted several new videos that compare the Galaxy S5 Active to the regular Galaxy S5 and also show off some of the Galaxy S5 Active’s exclusive features. Those include an Activity Zone app that has tools like a barometer, compass, flashlight and stopwatch, as well as an Active Key that can be customized to launch apps based on a short press or a long press.
In two other videos, the Galaxy S5 Active is compared to the plain ol’ Galaxy S5 that launched earlier this year. The Galaxy S5 Active has a tougher exterior than its non-Active sibling and also has a deeper rubber gasket on the inside of its battery cover, suggesting that it may be more water resistant.
So far, the Galaxy S5 Active is shaping up to be exactly what I expect it to be, which is a toughened version of the Galaxy S5 with some outdoorsy and more active features thrown in. There’s no word yet on when the Galaxy S5 Active might launch, but if you’re in the hunt for a high-end Android smartphone that can take a beating and keep on ticking, it may be worth it to wait for this thing to hit shelves.
