Spotify has been in the news quite a bit lately, launching a major redesign of its official Android app and forming a partnership with Sprint. The music streaming service is making headlines once again today, announcing a big update for its Windows Phone app.

Spotify version 3.0 is now live in the Windows Phone Store, bringing with it some new features and a makeover. The update includes Browse, which allows users to browse the service’s top playlists, as well as a Discover feature that will offer personalized music recommendations. Finally, Spotify’s Radio feature will create a radio station based on a track, artist or album that you select.

The other big part of today’s Spotify update is a refreshed user interface that brings the Windows Phone app more in line with its Android and iOS counterparts. The makeover includes a new-look Now Playing screen as well as a slide-out navigation menu.

Spotify does note that version 3.0 of its app includes issues with Facebook two-factor authentication. The company says that it will address those problems in a future update.

Despite the fact that it’s got some Facebook authentication issues, this Spotify update is a big deal for Windows Phone and its users. It’s been quite a while since the app got a major update, but today’s rollout changes that in a big way. The app is still missing a few features that are found in the Android and iOS versions, like the new “Your Music” collection, but here’s to hoping that this new release will be the start of more frequent updates for Windows Phoners.
