Excited for the BlackBerry Classic? If so, you’ve now got a launch timeframe to look forward to, as BlackBerry CEO John Chen has revealed the window in which his company expects to release the phone formerly known as the Q20.
In an interview with USA Today, Chen revealed that he expects the BlackBerry Classic to launch in November. Unfortunately, the exec didn’t shed any more light on the Classic’s launch date or its price tag.
The BlackBerry Classic is expected to be a sort of mashup of a BlackBerry 10 device and the BlackBerry Bold 9900/9930 (pictured above), which is powered by the older BlackBerry 7 operating system. The device will feature a trackpad and a set of Menu, Back, Send and End keys just like the Bold, as well as a 3.5-inch touchscreen and physical QWERTY keyboard.
BlackBerry has released several BlackBerry 10 phones to date, including the keyboard-clad Q10 and the 5-inch Z30 phablet. However, none of them have been able to gain real traction with consumers. Chen revealed in his interview that the Bold is one of BlackBerry’s most popular products to date, so it’s no surprise to learn that the company’s next attempt to regain some of its lost market share will see the Bold’s user experience merged with the newer BB10 software.
