Remember that improved version of Android’s “Verify apps” security feature that I told you about at the end of February? Today Google made it officially official, going into detail on the feature on its official Android blog.
The Verify apps feature originally debuted with Android 4.2 in order to protect users from potentially harmful apps. Now Google is expanding the feature to continually monitor user devices to make sure that apps are behaving safely. The company says that the warnings for its improved Verify apps system will look similar to the existing alerts.
This update to Verify apps is Google’s latest effort in a long-standing battle to protect users from installing harmful Android apps, and it’s definitely a welcome expansion. Best of all is that users don’t need to do a thing to get it, as the new Verify apps feature will be made available to all devices running Android 2.3 and up.
