Earlier this week, AT&T surprised its LG G2-toting customers with an upgrade to Android 4.4.2. Now it looks like T-Mobile G2 users can get their own helping of KitKat goodness, so long as they're willing to put in a little work.
Users on the xda-developers forums have discovered the T-Mobile G2's KitKat update on LG's servers and posted a link for all to download. The update brings the G2 up to Android 4.4.2, build number KOT49I.D80120a. Unfortunately, there's no changelog available yet since the official over the air push has yet to begin.
If you've got a T-Mobile G2 that you'd like to treat to some KitKat, you can grab the update and get to installing it right now. There are a couple of things worth noting before you get the ball rolling, though. The ROM is a beefy one, weighing in at 1.5GB, so you'll probably want to go make yourself a sandwich or something while waiting for it to download. Once that's done, you'll need the LG Mobile Support Tool in order to actually install the update on your phone.
If downloading a ginormous 1.5GB .KDZ file and installing it with LG's Mobile Support Tool isn't your idea of a good time, then you may want to hold off and wait for the OTA update to start rolling out. Neither LG nor T-Mobile have announced when that push will begin, but considering that AT&T's G2 was recently updated and that the T-Mobile G2's update is sitting on LG's servers, hopefully the official release isn't far off.
