Right around a month ago, U.S. Cellular confirmed that its shelves would be one of the many homes of the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini here in the U.S. Fast-forward to today and it looks like the U.S. Cellular-flavored Galaxy S4 mini has signed its lease and moved into the neighborhood without telling a soul.
U.S. Cellular is now selling the Galaxy S4 mini in its online store, complete with pricing that's set at $49.99 with a two-year contract for new customers and add-a-lines or just $0.01 for upgrades and renewals. The no contract price is set at $499.99.
No matter whether they spend $0.01 or $499.99, buyers of the Galaxy S4 mini will be getting a device with a 4.3-inch 960x540 Super AMOLED display, 1.7GHz dual-core processor, 8-megapixel rear and 1.9-megapixel front cameras and 16GB of built-in storage, which can be supplemented with a microSD card. The Galaxy S4 mini also features support for U.S. Cellular's 4G LTE network. All of that adds up to make a device that may not melt a user's face off with raw performance, but should still be a solid performer for folks that want a small-ish Android 4.2 smartphone.
