What's better than one gold phone? If you ask HTC, it's two gold phones. The Taiwanese company today took the wraps off of a new gold HTC One, but unlike the 18-carat gold covered model that was introduced in October, this new version is simply gold-colored.
This golden-hued HTC One is the fifth color variant of the flagship device to be unveiled to date, joining the original silver model as well as black, red and blue variants. Specs for the gold One are the same as its non-precious metal counterparts, meaning that we're looking at a 4.7-inch 1080p display, 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor, front-facing BoomSound speakers and a 4-megapixel UltraPixel camera, all crammed into an aluminum chassis.
As for when consumers will be able to grow their collection of golden smartphones with HTC's newest offering, well, most of that information is still up in the air. The golden HTC One is expected to be released across Europe with several different partners, but so far no specific launch details have been given quite yet. It's also not clear when or if the device will make its way across the pond to the U.S. We have seen all four other HTC One colors eventually hit American soil, though, so anyone in the U.S. that feels that gold smartphones are the best smartphones may just need to sit tight for now.
