This is turning out to be a pretty good weekend for fans of Android and Nexus hardware. Just a day after a large batch of leaked photos gave us a good look at both the LG Nexus 5 and Android 4.4 KitKat, a 7-minute video has made its way online that shows both of them in action. The device is missing the "Nexus" branding on its backside, suggesting that this is some early prototype hardware, and the software that's loaded onto the phone looks to be an early build of KitKat (it's even referred to as "KeyLimePie" in the About phone screen).

The phone in the video lines up with the hardware that we've seen in previous Nexus 5 leaks, including its large camera housing with a flash below it as well as a microUSB port on the rounded bottom. Moving to the front of the device, we can see a camera in the upper-left corner and a circular earpiece right next to it. The right side of the Nexus 5 features a power/lock button and SIM card slot, while the left side is home to a volume rocker. A quick peek in the phone's Settings app shows that it's got 16GB of built-in storage.

As I mentioned before, the software on this Nexus 5 appears to be an early build of Android 4.4. Some of the new KitKat features that we saw yesterday are present, like larger app icons and a Messaging app that's gone missing, which seemingly backs up the rumors that Google is planning to add SMS/MMS support to its Hangouts app. However, features like the new-look app launcher and rounded Google and Google Settings app icons aren't present in this video. One other interesting tidbit is that the lock screen lists the date as Oct. 9, meaning that this clip was shot just a few days ago.

Even though the Nexus 5 in this clip looks to be a prototype that's running early software, it still offers a nice, long look at what increasingly appears to be Google's next Nexus smartphone. One important detail that's still up in the air is exactly when LG and Google are planning to make this thing officially official, but considering how close we're getting to the one-year anniversary of the Nexus 4's debut, I wouldn't be surprised if our formal introduction to the Nexus 5 is came sooner rather than later.
