Apple's new iOS 7 software comes with a number of new features, including a Control Center that offers quick access to system settings and music controls as well as a refreshed camera app with burst shooting and filters. Apparently the Cupertino firm threw an iMessage bug into its new operating system as well, though, as many users have complained that they're having issues sending texts to other iOS users with the Messages app. The most widespread issue is with messages that appear to be sent but later pop up with an red mark indicating that they failed to go through.

Apple has confirmed to the Wall Street Journal that there's a problem with its iMessage service that is currently affecting "a fraction of a percent" of its user base. The company says that it plans to include a fix in an upcoming software update. There's no word yet on when that update will be released, but until it is, Apple suggests that iMessage users that are having issues should check out its iMessage Troubleshooting page or contact AppleCare support.

Considering that iMessage is the primary way that many iOS users communicate with their devices, a bug that causes problems with sending iMessage texts is kind of a big deal. It's nice to see Apple acknowledge that the problem exists and promise that a fix is coming, but since it's not clear when that update will actually be pushed out, anyone having iMessage woes may have to resort to other possible solutions until the rollout starts. Two such methods involve simply restarting the device or flipping off iMessage, resetting the device's Network Settings by going into Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
