Yesterday's Lumia 625 leaks may have taken away a bit of the mystery surrounding Nokia's "BIG" news this morning, but that doesn't mean that we won't be partaking in the device's formal introduction. Nokia this morning officially took the wraps off of the Lumia 625, a new Windows Phone 8-powered handset that features the biggest screen of any of its Lumia smartphones to date.
The display on the Lumia 625 measures in at 4.7 inches, which makes it a hair bigger than the 4.5-inch screen found on devices like the Lumia 920 and Lumia 1020. The resolution of the Lumia 625's display is set at 800x480, and Nokia says that it's also got super sensitive touchscreen tech.
Resting above the Lumia 625's display is a VGA front-facing camera, and around on the back of the unit rests a 5-megapixel shooter. Diving inside of the Lumia 625's colorful frame, we can see that the device is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor and 512MB RAM, and there's also a 2,000mAh battery providing juice for all of the internals. The Lumia 625 also includes 8GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot for additional space.
The Lumia 625 will be sold in orange, yellow, bright green, white, and black, and Nokia will also be offering additional shells that can be changed out in order to help fit the user's mood on any given day. Nokia says that the Lumia 625 will launch in Q3 2013 in places like China, Europe, Asia Pacific, India, Middle East, Africa, and Latin America, with pricing expected to come in at €220 ($290 USD). There's no word yet on when or if the Lumia 625 might make its way to North America.
While a 4.7-inch display may not seem huge when compared to some of the gargantuan phone/tablet hybrid devices on the market, the Lumia 625's screen is still pretty large and could appeal to consumers that've been looking for a big-screen Windows Phone experience. The combination of bright colors, LTE support, and a €220 price tag should also help the Lumia 625 to draw attention while its resting on store shelves. While we wait for the device to complete its journey to retail, you can view a promo video and a gallery of images below.
