Nokia's latest creation is the Lumia 1020, and it arrives at AT&T on July 26th for $299.99 with a two-year agreement. Most of the specifications are typical for a Nokia Windows Phone - the Lumia 1020 offers a 1.5 GHz dual-core CPU, 4.5-inch PureMotion HD+ display, 2 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal storage, 2,000 mAh battery and 4G LTE connectivity. The feature that distinguishes the Lumia 1020 from the pack is the 41-megapixel camera that sits on the back of the unit. Complete with the Nokia Pro Cam application, the Lumia 1020 takes incredible pictures. As you'd expect, the camera requires more space than the typical device, which results in a noticeable hump.
The challenge for Microsoft, Nokia, and AT&T to overcome is the $299.99 price point. Apple has done it for years with success, but they've also had a current-model iPhone at the $199 price point at the same time. It's doable with great planogramming and proper education on the product's features and value adds, but it remains to be seen how Microsoft and Nokia plan to execute the strategy there.
