Less than a month after adding the MediaPad 7 Vogue to its tablet lineup, Huawei today took the wraps off of another Android-powered slate. This time we're looking at the MediaPad 7 Youth, which as the name suggests, sports a 7-inch display. Packed inside the tablet's 9.9mm-thick aluminum unibody frame is a 1.6GHz dual-core processor and 4,100mAh battery. Finally, Huawei has opted to load Android 4.1 Jelly Bean onto its new tablet.

Huawei touts the MediaPad 7 Youth as being "ideal for young people who are always on the move," and in order to help those young people stay connected while on the go, the company has also thrown 21Mbps HSPA+ connectivity into its new tablet. That enables the MediaPad 7 Youth to send and receive voice calls as well as SMS and MMS messages. 

While the thought of using a 7-inch tablet to make voice calls might seem a tad strange, the MediaPad 7 Youth's ability to talk and text could help a user to reduce the number of devices that he or she carries around by serving double-duty as a phone and tablet. There's no word yet on how much consumers will need to pay for the privilege of lightening their load with the MediaPad 7 Youth, but with a launch scheduled for the third quarter (in Russia, China, Asia Pacific, the Middle East and Europe), it shouldn't be too long before we find out.
