Rejoice, Samsung Galaxy S Relay 4G owners, because today your QWERTY-equipped smartphone is slated to begin receiving an update to Jelly Bean. T-Mobile announced the news earlier today in its official support forums, revealed that the Galaxy S Relay 4G's update to Android 4.1.2 is available starting today, April 22. The update weighs in at 411MB and will bring the Galaxy S Relay 4G up to baseband version T699UVBMC5.
As far as the actual rollout goes, T-Mobile says two different things in its forum post on the update. At first it says that the T699UVBMC5 bump will be available "via OTA and Samsung Kies," but then later in the documentation, it says that the update will only be offered through Samsung Kies. Either way, Galaxy S Relay 4G owners may want to fire up Kies considering the large size of the update.
Neither Samsung nor T-Mobile has posted an official changelog for the Galaxy S Relay 4G's update yet, so its contents are a mystery for now. Since the device is getting bumped up to Android 4.1, though, owners should expect to see Jelly Bean-specific goodies like Google Now and improvements in the smoothness of the phone's operation thanks to Project Butter. Those are most definitely some nice features to have, so anyone that's rocking a Galaxy S Relay 4G may want to grab the nearest USB cable and get to updating.
