We're now just three weeks away from RIM's big BlackBerry 10 launch event, and today there's some good news concerning the platform for customers on three of the top four U.S. carriers. Executives from AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon have all confirmed to Reuters that their respective operator will carry BlackBerry 10 products. AT&T CMO David Christopher said that the big blue operator plans to support BlackBerry 10, with handset exec Jeff Bradley adding that "It's logical to expect our current (BlackBerry) customers will have the best BlackBerry devices to choose from in the future."
Meanwhile, T-Mobile CEO John Legere said that the folks at Magenta are "extremely optimistic" that BlackBerry 10. Legere added that T-Mobile's business customers have a high level of interest in RIM's new operating system. This is the first that we've heard about T-Mobile's intention to offer BlackBerry 10 hardware.
Verizon Communications CEO Lowell McAdam also came out in support of BlackBerry 10, telling Reuters that his carrier is "hopeful" that it'll be good and that they will indeed carry it. A different Verizon executive first revealed Big Red's plans to back BlackBerry 10 in September of last year.
In other BlackBerry 10 news, RIM CMO Frank Boulben has reaffirmed to Fierce Wireless that his company is planning to launch "at least six" BlackBerry 10 products in 2013. The first two will be a full-touch unit and a QWERTY-equipped model, both of which will be shown off at RIM's launch event. Boulben also said that this lineup will span different price points at the high, middle and low parts of the market and that RIM doesn't have any carrier exclusivity agreements, both of which are plans that ought to help RIM spread BlackBerry 10 devices around as much as possible.
BlackBerry 10 has been a long time coming, originally debuting as BBX way back in October 2011. While there have been plenty of teases and leaks to keep us entertained since then, the fact that we're finally nearing BlackBerry 10's launch is exciting, and it'll be interesting to see how the public reacts to RIM's new products. There's still no word on when the first BlackBerry 10 device will actually be released, but RIM has said that the first model to be available will be a full-touch unit, with the keyboarded handset following shortly after. So now that AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon are all on board with BlackBerry 10, which of you are planning to check out RIM's new stuff?
