It appears that those Total Equipment Protection pricing tiers aren't the only policy change in the cards for Sprint customers. The carrier has revealed that starting today, June 10, it'll be charging customers a $15 fee to change their phone number either while calling a Care representative or in store. The good news is that for folks that'd like to avoid the fee while still getting a new number, that can be achieved by visiting Sprint's website. Simply by logging into the site, clicking on the "My Preferences" tab and then locating the "Change phone number" link under the "Things I can manage online - account" tab, subscribers can get a new phone number totally gratis.
While it's kind of a bummer that customers interested in going the phone or store route to get a new number will now face a fee, at least there's still a free option that people can utilize if they'd like to avoid the new charge. It's also worth noting that Sprint isn't the only carrier to have a phone number change fee, with other operators charging a similar (or in some cases, higher) rate. How many of you have ever changed your phone number for one reason or another?
