Earlier this week it was revealed by our friends at TmoNews that the T-Mobile Sidekick 4G, which launched back in April of last year, was finally being discontinued. Today T-Mobile confirmed that tidbit of information to The Verge, but it's not all bad news for fans of the Sidekick brand. T-Mobile explained that although the Sidekick 4G is indeed entering retirement, that doesn't necessarily mean that it's the last Sidekick device that we'll ever see. The skinny straight from T-Mobile:
"While the T-Mobile Sidekick 4G is being retired, it doesn’t mean we are discontinuing the T-Mobile Sidekick line. T-Mobile continues to update and expand its 4G product portfolio and we’ll keep you posted when we have news to share on T-Mobile’s latest 4G devices."
So there you go, Sidekick fans. It's not clear when or if we could see another Sidekick debut, but it's good to hear that T-Mobile hasn't decided to discontinue the line. After all, considering how long the Sidekick brand has been around and the fondness that some people have for it, I'm sure there are several folks out there that'd love to see another Sidekick come to market. How many of you have the Sidekick 4G or have owned some other Sidekick in the past?
