Having problems checking a Twitter feed on your Verizon handset while enjoying a bowl of cereal this morning? You're not the only one, as Verizon's network seems to be down for users across the country. Both 3G and 4G data have been affected, and a quick check of Verizon's official support forums shows complaints from customers in states such as Indiana, California, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Virginia and Colorado. A Verizon customer support representative confirmed to The Verge that an outage is going on but couldn't discuss it any further.
This marks the second major data outage for Verizon this month, as it was just two weeks ago that the carrier was hit with a 4G LTE outage that affected a number of users. We've yet to hear official word from Verizon on when things might be back up and running, but we'll be sure to update you as we hear more. How are things working in your neck of the woods, Verizon folk?
UPDATE: Verizon just issued a statement on the outage, saying that its 4G LTE network ran into an issue early this morning but that it's "returning to normal" now. The word straight from Big Red:
"Verizon Wireless 4G LTE service is returning to normal this morning after company engineers worked to resolve an issue with the 4G network during the early morning hours today. Throughout this time, 4G LTE customers were able to make voice calls and send and receive text messages. The 3G data network operated normally.”
Everything looking good for you guys?
