Remember the Symbian Belle update that Nokia has said is due to begin arriving early next year? It's still coming, but now it's got a slightly different name. Nokia has revealed that Symbian Belle will henceforth be known as Nokia Belle, slipping the news into a post talking about the update's rollout over at its official blog. The company went on to say that Nokia Belle will be pushed to existing devices like the Nokia N8, E7, E6, X7, C6-01, C7 and Oro beginning in February, bringing with it goodies like double the number of home screens (up from three to six) and improved widgets.
This name change may not really mean all that much to the software itself, it's still kind of a bummer to see Nokia axe the Symbian name from the platform's next major update. The good news is that even though the switch may sting to some of the Symbian crowd, all of the new features found in the Belle update should help to lessen the pain when it begins rolling out in February.
