Just a month after Sony Ericsson confirmed that several of its Xperia-branded smartphones would be bumped up to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, the company has now given us a timeframe on when we can expect the first updates to begin. On its official product blog, Sony Ericsson said that the updates will begin rolling out at the end of March or beginning of April next year and that the Xperia Arc S, Xperia Neo V and Xperia Ray will be the first handsets to see ICS. After that, the Xperia Arc, Xperia Play, Xperia Neo, Xperia Mini and Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, Xperia Active and Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman will be upgraded sometime at the end of April or beginning of May.
These updates may still be a few months off, but hey, at least now you Xperia owners won't be left wondering when your tase of Ice Cream Sandwich will begin pushing out. Of course, folks toting around carrier-branded devices such as the Verizon and AT&T versions of the Xperia Play will likely have to wait a tad longer for the new software as it goes through carrier testing and such, but good on Sony Ericsson for keeping us updated. More as we get it!
