Today's a big day for Apple and iOS, not only because of the iPhone 4S launch but also because it marks the first time that an iPhone is available on Sprint. That milestone also led to a big day for the folks at the Now Network, as Sprint has announced that the iPhone 4 and 4S have broken its single day sales records. That's a pretty impressive feat on its own, but Sprint went on to say that the new iPhones didn't even need the full day to beat the record, as the milestone was reached by 1PM ET (stores opened at 8:00 AM local time). Exact sales numbers weren't given. You can find the full statement from Sprint down below.
Verizon has also chimed in to talk up its own iPhone sales, saying that stores have been seeing steady traffic. "Demand was particularly strong very early and during the lunch hour," Verizon spokesperson Brenda Raney said. “We are seeing a nice mix of people who are first-time smartphone purchasers as well as those who are switching from competitors.”
Overall it sounds like the iPhone 4S is doing well during its first day on store shelves. We've yet to hear any reports from AT&T or Apple concerning its iPhone 4S sales, but earlier this week Apple did reveal that it received over one million iPhone 4S pre-orders in the first 24 hours of availability. If we hear anything new from those two companies, though, we'll be sure to pass along the details. How many of you got an iPhone 4S today, either by pre-order or from a brick and mortar store? What do you think so far?
UPDATE: AT&T has issued a short statement to update us on how iPhone 4S Day is going for it. No hard sales numbers were given, but AT&T says that as of 4:30 PM ET, it had already activated a record number of iPhones on its network and is on pace to double its previous record for single day activations. AT&T's statement is below.
