Apple's iPhone 4S will be making its way into the hands of consumers for the first time tomorrow, October 14th, but if you were hoping to live life on the edge and wait until the day before the 4S goes on sale to place a pre-order, it looks like you're out of luck. The iPhone 4S is no longer available for launch day pre-order at any of the three U.S. carriers or at Apple's own website, though you can still order a device and have it shipped when stock is replenished. How long of a wait you'll encounter by going that route varies: as of this writing, AT&T expects devices ordered today to be shipped in 3-4 weeks, Verizon's wait is 2 weeks, Apple's is 1-2 weeks, and Sprint is no longer taking pre-orders for the 16GB model but is still offering the 32GB and 64GB models, with shipments expected to arrive in 3-8 business days.

The news that iPhone 4S pre-orders have sold out isn't altogether shocking considering that, less than a week ago, most launch day stock had already been claimed. Luckily, anyone that absolutely, positively must have an iPhone 4S on day one and missed out on a pre-order can still head to their local Apple/AT&T/Sprint/Verizon store tomorrow to brave the lines and try to snag one in person.
