If you needed any more evidence that Android is big, Andy Rubin is happy to supply it to you. Rubin, the Senior Vice President of Mobile at Google, recently tweeted that there are now 500,000 Android devices activated every day and that that number is growing at a rate of 4.4 percent week over week. Last time we were updated on Android activation numbers, the tally had reached 300,000 per day back in December.

The fact that there are half a million Android devices activated every day is pretty impressive, and it makes you wonder how much farther that number is going to climb. Will we see the platform reach one million products activated daily sometime? It certainly seems possible given how quickly that number's been growing. One thing that is for sure, though: Android's come pretty far since the days of the G1.
