Early last month, the rumor mill began to churn with claims that RIM was hard at work on a 10-inch version of the BlackBerry PlayBook that would be available in time for the holidays. If you were holding your breath waiting for the bigger PlayBook to arrive, though, it sounds like you may want to exhale. According to a report from N4BB, RIM has canned its plans for a 10-inch tablet in order to focus resources on its upcoming QNX-powered BlackBerry smartphones.
Although I'm sure that there'll be a few folks disappointed by this rumor, it seems like a smart move by RIM if true. The Bold 9900 and BlackBerry 7 are nice and all, but RIM really needs to get it in gear and release its QNX smartphones to the public. This is especially true when you remember that Google and Apple will be pushing out their next generation operating systems later this year. What do you all make of this rumor? Would you like to see a 10-inch PlayBook or do you think QNX BlackBerry smartphones are more important?
