Verizon's said in the past that it plans to drop unlimited data and make the move to tiered data, and tonight a report has emerged claiming that we're less than a month off from the change. According to MyDroidWorld and forum member P3Droid, Verizon will be implementing its tiered data plans on July 7th, the day after its free 4G LTE hotspot promotion is scheduled to end. There's no word on what pricing will be like, but considering we're just under three weeks away from the possible change, we should be hearing more soon.
Although Verizon's switch to tiered data is kind of a bummer for those of us that like to gobble up data, we've known of change since last month's report that Big Red would move to data tiers this summer. The good news is that those of you that already have an unlimited plan should be able to hold on to it for now, as P3Droid claims that you'll only need to switch if you change plans, move to an LTE handset, or use an annual upgrade. For anyone that doesn't already have unlimited data but would like to, well, you'd probably be wise to jump on the plan while you still can.
