Evidence of an impending Verizon-branded HTC Merge has slowly been mounting over the past several months, and today we got another piece to add to the pile. Searching for "HTC Merge" on Verizon's site brings up the support page that you see above, marking the second time that the Merge has prematurely appeared on Big Red's website.
Fortunately, the Merge wasn't the only unannounced smartphone to appear on Verizon's site today. The Samsung Gem, complete with VZW-branding, has been given its own accessories page despite the fact that it's not even on sale. However, Verizon wasn't the only company to throw the Gem up on its website, as Samsung has given Big Red's model its own cozy spot on their site, as well.
Don't think that Android was the only subject of a leak today, though, as Windows Phone 7 also got its time in the spotlight. It appears that that promotion that Verizon offered to Microsoft employees last year has been extended until April 7th, which just so happens to be 8 days before the alleged April 15th launch date that we saw for the Trophy last week.
Both the Merge and Gem have been leaking for some time now, but with both handsets arriving on other carriers in the past couple of weeks, it may finally be time for Verizon to launch their models of the two Android-powered phones. As for the Trophy, well, with T-Mobile, AT&T, and Sprint already offering WP7 devices, I'd say it's about time that Big Red gets their offering onto the shelves. Of course, whenever Verizon does get around to making all of these handsets official, you can be sure that we'll let you know.
