New month, new Android OS distribution chart. Google just shared some new figures on the Android Developers Blog and, unsurprisingly, Android 2.2 is still miles ahead of the other iterations of the OS, finishing the two-week period ending April 1st on 63.9 percent of all devices. Eclair is next up with 27.2 percent, with is actually nearly a two percent drop from last month. Meanwhile, Android 2.3 is at 0.8 percent and Android 2.3.3 is sitting at 1.7 percent. Honeycomb is unchanged from mid-March, with 0.2 percent, while Android 1.5 and 1.6 continue declining, finishing with 2.7 and 3.5 percent, respectively.
There's no doubt that it'd be nice to see Gingerbread running on 63.9 percent of all Android phones rather than Froyo, but things are looking much better than they were nearly a year ago. Unfortunately, we haven't heard anything official about 2.3 updates for non-Nexus devices, although the ThunderBolt and DROID Incredible could be seeing GB before Q2 is up. If anything is announced, though, you can be sure that we'll let you know.
